How to Feel Good About Taking a vacation from Work

It can be tough to take time off from work, but it’s important to make sure you’re taking care of yourself.

If your anxiety is preventing you from enjoying your vacation, don’t worry. Here are some helpful tips to mentally become stronger and stop anxiety about going on vacation. My Qclubbb Bold Brave Beautiful coaching provides the support you need to make a lasting positive change in your personal and professional life.

In the meantime, these tips will help you become mentally stronger and less anxious so you can  enjoy your vacation or trip.

Visualise your ideal vacation.

Sit down and close your eyes. Take a few deep breaths and begin to visualise your perfect vacation. What does it look like? Where are you staying? What are you doing each day? Who are you with?

Allow yourself to really immerse in the details of your ideal vacation. The more vividly you can visualise it, the more likely you are to achieve it.

Make a list of all the reasons why you want to go on vacation.

When you’re feeling anxious about something, it can be helpful to remind yourself of all the reasons why you’re doing it in the first place.

For a vacation, this could be things like wanting to relax, spending time with loved ones, seeing new sights, or indulging in your favourite activities.

Break down your trip into manageable steps.

If the thought of your upcoming trip is feeling overwhelming, break it down into smaller, more manageable steps.

Focus on just one thing at a time, whether that’s booking your accommodation, packing your suitcase, or getting to the airport on time.

Taking things one step at a time will make the overall task feel less daunting and more achievable.

Create a positive mindset.

It’s important to go into your trip with a positive mindset. Focus on all the good that will come from it, such as making amazing memories, having new experiences, and enjoying quality time with loved ones.

Try to avoid thinking about all the things that could go wrong. Instead, focus on everything that could go right.

Talk to someone who has been there before.

If you know somebody who has already been to the place you’re visiting, ask them for advice and tips.

They can help put your mind at ease about any concerns you have and tell you what to expect from the trip. This will help you feel more prepared and confident about going.

Use positive affirmations.

Positive affirmations are short, powerful statements that you can repeat to yourself when you’re feeling anxious or stressed.

Some examples of positive affirmations for vacation anxiety could be “I am safe”, “I am prepared”, or “I am excited for this trip”.

Repeating these affirmations to yourself will help to shift your mindset from negative to positive.

Breathe deeply and slowly.

When you’re feeling anxious, your breathing becomes shallow and fast. This can make your anxiety worse.

So, when you start to feel anxious about your upcoming trip, take some time to focus on your breathing. Breathe in slowly and deeply through your nose, and then exhale slowly through your mouth.

Do this for a few minutes and you should start to feel more relaxed.

Do some relaxation exercises.

There are a number of different relaxation exercises that can help to reduce anxiety. Some examples include progressive muscle relaxation, guided imagery, and mindfulness meditation.

Find a relaxation exercise that works for you and make sure to do it regularly in the lead-up to your trip. This will help you feel more relaxed and prepared for what’s to come.

Get plenty of rest.

Make sure to get plenty of rest in the weeks leading up to your trip. This will help to reduce stress and anxiety levels.

Try to stick to a regular sleep schedule and avoid drinking caffeine or alcohol in the evening. These can make it more difficult to fall asleep and get a good night’s rest.

Eat healthy and exercise.

Eating a healthy diet and exercising regularly can also help to reduce stress and anxiety levels.

Make sure to eat plenty of fruit, vegetables, and whole grains. And try to get at least 30 minutes of exercise most days of the week. This could be something as simple as going for a walk or a swim.

Talk to somebody about your anxiety.

If you’re finding it difficult to cope with your anxiety on your own, seek help.

Talk to your doctor or a counsellor about your anxiety and they can provide you with more information and resources. They may in fact recommend coaching!
