Now, if I were to ask you as a working parent or parent about to return to work⏳ , what’s your greatest struggle/challenge right now, would you agree with these parents in the park🌴

The Ultimate Parental Fix 🧁

I joined my friend and her kids in the park the other day. It’s kind of there after school routine. A posse of other parents joined too with balls, squeaky toys 🦖and after school snacks. Conversation flowed; parents shared how they had just recruited, for their imminent return to work the best nanny since Mary☂️ Poppins.  Another parent whispered how their latest homemade nutritional fix 🍹 creates energy, promotes sleep, drops kilos in seconds and ups libido! (Definitely WIPO patent worthy!).

“I have it covered - Rah - Rah!”.

How pumped up and together these parents were sounding! 👩🏽‍💻💗👨🏻‍💻. Of course, as a coach and with a history of being a working single parent, I couldn’t help being a bit curious about all of that ‘got it together’ and  🥳‘I have it covered’ RAH RAH speak.

“ …it was probably the wine!”.

The conversation soon opened up and got real, and I was let into their inner circle of lost socks and the real version of life/work challenges 101!

Not sure if my earning their trust was due to one parent pulling out a bottle of wine 🍾and several Tommee Tippee sippy cups, or my Kuedos of being a former international traveling, juggling 🤹🏻‍♀️single parent, or perhaps  it was my ‘beautiful provoking and solution oriented’ coaching skill questions.  Nah… it was probably the wine!

With a Tommee Tippee cup in hand, I felt honoured 🙏🏽to be around such genuine and wonderful mamas and papas willing to share their baby and work transition experiences.

And now I have put my highly researched findings😜 of their work transition experiences into this poll.

Calling all Return to Work Parents

It would be really interesting to see if there is a similar thread or not of parental back to work experiences, especially with the aftermath of the pandemic. What would those findings tell us?

So, Mamas & Papas in the workforce (or scheduled to return), what rings true to you? Out of these 8, what 3 do you most identify with as being a frequent challenge:

🤹🏻‍♀️Juggling work whilst being present as a parent/spouse/partner

🏡Employer not providing adequate flexible remote working options

📉Experiencing a general negative bias in the workplace due to parental status

🐻Sense a lack of opportunity for career mobility or professional development

👩🏽‍💻Managing childcare in a home office environment creating frequent feelings of overwhelm 👨🏻‍💻

😵Falling into or unable to extract from unhealthy negative behaviours/habits

😔Feeling a sense of guilt, stress, lack of confidence

🙃Right now, I’ve got me and parenthood covered!🎈

Poll Findings

I will provide feedback on the poll results shortly. Then maybe you have suggestions on what steps could be taken right now to address any aspects that surface from poll findings.

No judgement

Oh and to close, no  judgment of your parental skills, when I had little ones my own sweet mama voice was sometimes so loud even the neighbours did their homework, brushed their teeth and got dressed!
